Consultations and Fees

Reaching out for support is the hardest step, but it is also a positive step for change and well-being. During consultations, we will discuss and identify the areas of your life that are causing you the most distress and identify the support that would be most helpful and effective. I will also ask questions regarding your family history; and factors that may be significantly related to your current difficulties. Goals for therapy and appropriate modalities of support will be discussed to assist with an ongoing treatment plan.  Throughout the consultations, we will frequently re-visit your goals to ensure that the treatment approach is effective.

An integral aspect of engaging in therapeutic support is to ensure that information discussed in session remains confidential. In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and therapist. As such, no information is disclosed to a third party without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions to this rule which are required by law. Exceptions include:

1. Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
2. If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.
3. If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not co-operate, additional measures may need to be taken.

The APS National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2023-2024 has the initial consultation for a 90-120-minute consultation at $472, and the standard 60-minute consultation fee at $309.

Initial Consultation:  $380 sessions 1.5-2hrs

 Subsequent Consultations: $290 sessions 50-60 min.

Online or Telephone Consultations: $260 sessions 50-60 min

In Home Consultations: $300 sessions 75mins

Travel time for in home consultations: $210

Clinical Supervision Sessions: $220 sessions 60min

Counselling sessions with Terry Williamson: $200

Cognitive Assessment: Please contact the practice manager to discuss the cost of all ASD and Cognitive Assessments as all may vary depending on assessment needs.

All Payments will be taken at the time of the consultation

Please contact your private health insurance provider to find out if they offer part rebates for psychological consultations.

If, for some reason you need to cancel or postpone the appointment, please consider other clients and give at least 48 hours notice.  Given the demand for appointment times, if less than 24 hours notice is given to cancel or reschedule your appointment or if you fail to show up for your scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full fee for the session. 

To be eligible to receive psychological services under Medicare, you must first be referred by your GP or in some instances by a psychiatrist, paediatrician or consultant physician. A referral from your GP or Doctor may enable you to claim a rebate of $93.35 for a general psychologist, or $137.05 for a clinical psychologist, per session, for up to 10 sessions in each calendar year.
